Notes to our Guests
The idea of racing down the Umsindusi and Umgeni rivers was born during World War II when Ian Player, sitting around a campfire in Italy, tired and homesick, came up with the idea of formalising a race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
Whispering Waters provides ample opportunities for trying out the delicate exercise of canoeing. Beginners will enjoy the relative privacy of their first water bound trip aboard a canoe on this tranquil tract of water while seasoned paddlers can whizz off on many an adventure undisturbed.
